DIY – How to upgrade your Omnia firmware into H3
I just successfully upgraded my firmware from G3 into H3.
Thank god..nothing wrong was happen…:)
Anyway this firmware is not consider as official firmware from Samsung because still not available on the website. Maybe they still testing and will come out with another version later.
Below is the step for u to upgrade if u dont want to go to service centre.
Do it at your own risk..:)
- Make sure u have XP machine. Vista is not recommended. Mine is Vista but i use my wife’s laptop..:P
- Backup ur Omnia data
- Fully charge ur Omnia
- Install ActiveSync 4.5 if u dont have (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync45.mspx)
- Install Samsung Modem Driver (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/omnia/SamsungModem_xp.zip)
- extract and run the setup.EXE
- go to this site, http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-http-i900-modaco-com/272126/secanys-rom-research-thread/ or directly download the firmware from here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xocswrevoyj
- Run i900DXHH3.7zip.exe (it will extract to another EXE file)
- Run i900DXHH3.exe.
- Turn Off your Omnia
- Connect your Omnia to a pc using data cable.
- turn on Device
- please click “START” button if the device found.
- Wait until this screen come out on PC. (Will take about 15 minutes then your Omnia will shutdown)
- Switch on your Omnia..Dont be afraid if Samsung logo appear quite a long time.
- Wait about 3-5 minutes. Your new Omnia will born again..:)

NOTES:-
If you get ‘Incorrect Software Version’ when trying to update, here’s the fix!
- Press the ‘dial’ key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer
- With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
- Select ‘Preconfiguration’
- Enter code *#81230*# and select OK
- Select ‘Singapore’, with the default Operator
- Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET
- Run update, and all should be well.

I did the flashing and it works Ok, no problem at all.
I did tring to fix a “radio off” problem, and i found that my omina is having a hardware problem related with the phone USB it is not detected; I get the following message “Error! PhoneUSB Detect Failed”
If any one knows how to fix it it will be greate for some of us.
But the image software works fine for me.
Regards..

Hi,
I have been searching all over the internet for a solution to this “Incorrect Version” message, and no one has given a different solution. Everyone keeps saying the following:
* Press the ‘dial’ key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer
* With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
* Select ‘Preconfiguration …..etc…
But this is not working for me. Here’s what I get when I check the version, both the PDA and the phone are i900DXHH3. I know that there is supposed to be a / with more letters and a number after it, but I don’t have that. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thanks.

Nabeel, i’m not sure about that..
anyway i suggest u to upgrade to the new firmware..
H3 is quite bad on battery life..

Maks,
Thanks for responding. I was finally able to upgrade my phone’s firmware. I upgraded to DZHK3, which I believe is the latest release. Immediately I see an improvement in my battery life. I have gone 48 hours and had 3 hours of talk time and my battery still has 4 bars on it. This is great since I used to charge my phone every day.
The next part is long.
With regards to the update process. Everything about hard reseting the phone is correct, but there was a minor detail that is not included. The incorrect window that comes up when running the updater has an OK button. If you click that, the updater closes. Then you do the hard reset using the instructions given above. You will have to set the country and carrier. After that the phone will restart and then you’re back to square one. The trick is to restart the updater right after it closes BUT DON’T CLICK THE VERIFY BUTTON. Preform the hard reset on the phone and when the phone starts reseting, click the verify button. This is about timing. If it doesn’t work, retry it with minor changes in when you click the verify button. You know it worked when the progress bar under the verify button says it’s downloading file 1 then file 2 then file 3 and finally file 4. Be patient and keep trying. Good luck.

hi,
I have been using PPC phone for a while and I have changed to the Samsung i8000 (Omnia 2). However, I am not use to the User Interface of Samsung in the phone and I would prefer to have the old WM user interface. If there any change whereby I can remove it totally and have just the WM user interface?
Please advise ….

For all those OMNIA users:
Omnia Upgrade is unsuccessful when yo do the upograde with an USB 1.x or if your USB is not syncing at high speed.
Don´t Start your OMNIA upgrade if USB is not confident.
