What’s NEW in Omnia H3 Firmware
[Updated on battery performance]
What i can say, battery in H3 is very bad compare to G3 firmware.
On 1st day, after fully charged at 12pm. I plug out the charger. Left it and forget to switch off WIFI..
When i wake up at 5pm, the battery left about 50%. Device feels very warm..
After a while then i check my battery already 40%..! What the hill…!
I’m not heavy user. Normal usage would be smses, few calls and just play around with my Omnia not more than 1 hour.
Since i’m using H3, its very hard to reach 2 days full..normally the battery can last long around 1-1.5 days..
Another things, the battery status display in SPB Mobile Shell sometimes is not reliable..
There was a time i check my battery already at 30% and suddenly it will jump to 40%..
When i soft reset the device, the battery will decrease 20%!
And from my observation, the time taken to charge is more longer than G3. It took about 3-4 hours to completely charge where on G3 only 2-3 hrs.
Hope Samsung will fix this issue soon.

- Connected Home ‘DLNA Server’
- Updated Opera Mobile (build 1957)
- now u can access GMAIL
- text size is a bit smaller compare to previous one (maybe can change through setting)
- more stable i think
- finger scrolling on program, settings, file explorer
- when u scroll there is funny sound like duck
(how to disable it?)

- more haptic feedback including for the Samsung keyboards (now i dunt need to install Resco keyboard anymore)
- no more scrollbar (due to space constraint) when u add another today plugin together with Samsung Today 2
- additional page on Main Menu
- new scrolling mechanism in Samsung Program
- when u open Media Album, it will show u the latst folder that u opened previously
- some said that they have new today widgets..i cannot find any of them
- Performance? nothing much can say..maybe same..
- Battery?..havent test yet..
- Signal reception – still bad as G3.
- Touch Player and Samsung Phonebook still feel heavy to be use..lagging

2 questions:
1) How do you get the taskbar to go all black like in yours? The darkest I can get mine is dark brown/greyish. Do you need to mess around with the registry?
2) I saw on some other forums that there is a second version of the Samsung Today screen that is black and white (no colors at all, but same layout). Do you get this version of the Samsung Today screen with the new firmware upgrade?

there is not so much games that u can play on Omnia since it does not have real d-pad..

I’m also not sure.
But i think if the game is require touchscreen then it should be no problem.
The only thing some of games screen may not fit with Omnia screen.

Hi Patrick, just copy the two files SoloBlack.scheme and SoloBlack.tsk
into ur My Storage or My Device..
then go to setting > personal > today
choose SoloBlack theme

so far i only have one, which is the black non glossy bar..
that one also just because i want to match with my dark wallpaper..
actually nothing much u can do if u just depend on windows mobile theme..
the only thing that u can change is wallpaper, the bar color, and text..

i would like to suggest u to use SPB Mobile Shell..
its a great application..and very professional..

hi my omnia firmware upgrade G3 to H3. the above procedure is done. but my omnia is not working. after upgrade i am waiting (Wait about 3-5 minutes. Your new Omnia will born again..:) still 6 hours. but not working. STILL MY OMNIA IS DEAD. WHAT CAN I DO SIR. so please advice me my omnia is back on G3 OR H3 . how?

where did u bought? and where are u from?
if u bought from ur country i suggest to bring down ur Omnia to the nearest Samsung service centre and ask them to fix it..
if not, can u try revert back to G4 from this link

thank u maks pain i am in india i bought omnia from ebay site.in india omnia is not realised. i visit local samsung service center but no use.my problem is my omnia is fully dead position. i downloaded g4 firmware but my pc not recongiged to my samsung omnia.lot time i reset to my omnia but no use my omnia is not on.no welcome screen and no responce. fully dead. what can i do?

hey maks_pain, my case is different. at first, yea the batt seem to drain faster than on G4. but i read tht the batt needs at least a few cycles of full charge to be optimal. and plus, u have to set some power saving functions on SPB and S2U2 (if u have them).
so far, my latest batt run on H3 is a full 3 days without charge. just now the batt dead.
and the previous two days, i was listening to music, using the camera, calls, sms, and etc. the batt was draining very slow.
now let’s see how it goes after my fourth full charge cycle.

anyway all my settings & apps are almost same like previous one.
And i can feel the different after i upgraded to H3.
Battery report status also not very accurate..Example when i charging until 60%, then i plug out the charger the battery goes down to 50%..Weird..

yeah that happened too, but i was guessing it’s SPB. the indicator on the Now screen of SPB is showing different readings, but only while charging.
but even during G4, the battery indicator had same problems. like for instance, i got warning that my batt is 20%. did a soft reset, and suddenly it was 40%.
but so far, the H3 is ok.
i did notice something on my first full charge cycle after upgrading H3, the battery indicator only changes at 20% intervals. but that was the one time. after that, battery was like what i shared above.
try to overcharge the battery for a few hours i guess. and never trust the display indicator. just trust the power led. make sure u charge until green. u should be safe.
here’s to hoping my battery shows the same performance after this.

in the process of upgrading the firmware on my omnia imie no-352819020691983 through the software provided by youe website ,the software asked me to manually restart the phone n when i tried doing it the phone got dead.i hav deposited the phone in samsung service center, 10a,lee road, kolkata(india).
they tell me that they dont have any solution of it so i request you to provide the solution to the concerned people so that my phone starts working again. thanking you in advance.

A few quick questions. I’ve got an Omnia that was purchased (used). I’m now in India.
a) What do I do on the phone to see what firmware version it has now?
b) Going to the Samsung India website, there does not seem to be any notice yet about a new firmware release for the Omnia. Is it “safe” to find the new firmware on a website that Samsung has created anyplace in the world, and try to use the firmware I find there?
c) Can the firmware updates be downloaded directly to my laptop or phone, and installed later, or is it all a single process, where you hook up the phone to the laptop, and do it all “live”?

I bought my Omnia in Germany. For the coming few months I am going to stay in Sudan. It looks the GPRS is always reverting back to the Germany mobile operator whenever I tried to connect to the local – Zain Sudan- operator. Is there a way around?

Dear Samsung I bought an omnia in kolkata India, the software fails to load on my laptop.
it was working some what fine then, it stopped responding to answer when a call comes in.the camera despite being 5 MP the results are useless. I cant find a phone cover in the market to protect the camera from scratches etc. HELP!!!!! I have been looted.
