Boost your Omnia’s default volume settings
via Modaco forum
“A lot of people asking how they can boost their volume of their headsets or when watching a movie through the loud speaker (its very low). Even ringtones are effected by this. So I thought I better finally register and post my findings for other I900 owners.
Its quite simple and does not require a hard rest.
In the phone keypad type: *#0002*28346#
You will then have a screen pop up called audio control util.
How to change the loudspeaker volume for ringtones, movies, mp3s etc
Click menu, normal then handset (the first one, Phones headset/loudspeaker) Here you can change:
Speaker volume: SPK(02) -db is less volume, I have set this to -1.5db (level)
Digital-to-analog: DAC(0C) This effects the overall volume of Mp3s, movies etc -both headset and loud speaker. I have set this to 0db.
Radio Volume: RVOL
How to change the headset / earphones volume.
Click menu, normal then headset (the second one, Headphones) Here you can change:
Headphones volume: HP(02) -db is less volume +db is more volume, I have set this to 0db (level)
Digital-to-analog: DAC(0C) This effects the overall volume of Mp3s, movies etc. I have set this to 0db.
Radio Volume: RVOL
*You must click menu / apply for changes to take effect,
*I recommend play a Mp3 launch the app, then apply the changes and set your prefered max volume.
*Setting high levels could damage the loud speaker or your headphones, not to mention your hearing!.
So there you have it, you can have headphones louder than an iphone or ipod if you wish. I don’t recommend touching other settings unless you know what your doing or have copied the defaults so you can revert back incase you srew something up!

dear friend
i am looking forward to buy a samsung omina, but i am so afraid that the sound volume is low in the earphones, and specially in the crowded areas. would u tell me if ur trick of increasing the sound volume in the earphones will affects the sound quality or not.
Thank You

Maged,
yeah i think Omnia’s speaker it’s quite soft compare to others phone. This settings will boost ur volume to the reasonable frequency but u need to adjust according to ur need.
If u use earphone, then it should be no problem..

Dear Maks Pain
Thx very much. But what i meant is if i am listening to a song in the earphone and i used the trick of increasing the sound frequency, will the music quality be affected or not (i mean does it go bad, or it is boosted and the music quality is the same). And would u please tell me about the games the could be played and that worked on Omnia with no problems (Syberia II, Rayman, wolf 3D…)
Thanks again

thanks. @0db there should be any distortion (theoreticaly) i tried the suggested settings and everything works perfecty. enough volume to sillence a crouded bus. perfect. no distortion that i could detect(i have pretty decent headphones. sounds great.) now for a graphical equaliser to get the sound just right… any ideas?

all being said about increasing the speakers, I want to know how to turn the speaker phone on when on a call.
[reply by MAKS PAIN - sorry for late reply]
simple, when u receive call..
turn on ur screen, press d-pad button..then u can see speaker on button on the screen

Excellent, was thinking it was a shame that the volume was low. This is maybe because they are trying to increase battery life, which i think is pretty good anyway.
Will try this out later, when not working, LOL!

Is this code only for Euro versions of the Omnia? I typed in the code, nothing happens. I even hit send, it just dialed the number. Do I need a registry editor installed first? If so, do you know a good one for the Omnia? I had regedit on my HTC Dash(T-Mobile) but not sure if it will work on Omnia, Omnia WSM6.1, Dash WM 6.
Thanks.
p.s. my US version Omnia can’t make a BT PAN between itself and my ASUS laptop, do you know of a fix for this? i need to use the phone as a modem, but don’t want to pay Verizon to tether the phone with a USB. I shouldn’t have to, it has BT which should allow me to pair and connect the two.

On a Verizon phone look for “SoundTester” in the Windows folder. Use Show All Files so hidden files are visible.

I have the verizon version. Soundtester values don’t visually but seem to change in effect. I have played around with it and now my speaker volume is really loud, mic sensitivity is high and all other playback is normal. be careful when playing with this utility. still trying to get everything back to “normal”
Craig said,
May 31, 2009 at 10:02 am
Mark is right! You can change the values until you’re blue in the face.. they will NOT VISUALLY change on the drop-downs when applied…
HOWEVER, once I exited the “sound tester” (US – Verizon Omnia i910) stopped my audio… and restarted same audio (mp3 in my case) the volume became almost painful when “set” at 30db. RULE #1 when playing this game… Write everything down – the program will always show the same values when restarted, but those are NOT the set values! (Can’t even be defaults because mine were “maxed out” before I even started this process) The settings WILL change when you select and apply but here’s the trick – Write down all the values you select… exit the program… shut down audio… and restart from scratch. Gives a whole new meaning to “tweaking”

I need urgent help for my Samsung Omnia i900. My microphone stopped working all of a sudden, and the person on the other side of the line cannot hear me at all. I don’t think this problem has to do with any physical impact on the phone because it just happened. The handsfree kit microphone works fine but the handset microphone doesn’t. Can anyone help me? This is a new phone (only 3 months old, and it wasn’t cheap!!) Eagerly waiting for help.

~~~~~ read if code not working ~~~~~
for everyone out there that is new to pda’s or pros
every code you type has a program that its linked to all you need to find it the program
for this one it’s called soundtester.exe it’s inside your windows folder on your mobile
cause this file and lots of others are hidden you will need resco explorer or any other explorer (ppcwarez.org has lots of them ) that will show hidden files. if you dont have another explore other then the one that windows mobile comes with get one cause there lots of things u can do with them.
once u can see the hidden files just open up soudtester.exe and play around
enjoy hope this helps
I’m not seeing a real breakdown of which variable controls which specific asset of the volume. What is the breakdown. I reset all mine to the listed defaults (which were considerably different than what was on mine). It lost the ability to speak so i did a hard reset and started over.
Shes still too quiet overall though. Just no top end in a headset.
Can someone break down these categories for us?
Type it and waited nothing, it says your call cannot not be completed as dialed.
I don know what to do because my volume is so low I cannot hear the ringer or hear nothing no one is saying to me in the phone it is horrible is there no way to get into this from my phone without this code, because my phone is with telus.
