About battery, yesterday I tried SPB mobileshell, I used the phone like a normal day and at night (7PM) I had to recharrged my phon, (got that message that it was time to charge) Then I deleted SPB mobileshell, charged the phone and too day I have used it “like normal” and watched a movie during 40 min. And now I have about left 50% . Is it possible that mobileshell uses more power

Hans, yes, this is true SPB Mobile shell obviously uses more power than without it, as you’re running an additional program. However, the power usage is not as bad as you make it sound. Usually, at idle, without SPB mobile shell, I can get close to 500 hours, but with SPB mobile shell, roughly cut down to 400ish. so it’s not that bad. Note those are idle times, and may be less depending on what you do.

Thank you for your answer. I I think that is a great software, and probably going to install it again. But first I am thinking of upgrade to the rome above. But, before I do that I wonder if there is any problem with it?

Hi Hans,
Thanks to HypoglossalXII for answering ur question.
Regarding the custom ROM,
so far i have no issue using it for 3 days..
i can say battery performance is comparable with HI1.
FYI, i’m using SPB Mobile Shell..My Omnia cannot live without it..:)

i think if ur Omnia broken down on software part they might dunno what firmware u r using..
unless if related to hardware part, then i think u better install the official firmware from Samsung..:P

i installed this rom, took kinda risk ,last time i used paul’s guide and killed my omnia, this is the second one i have got, however
rom installed all good and i love the operator’s settings feature that it automatically adds your operator in the list which it wasn’t like that before.thanks
i installed all my apps including gps gate and tomtom 7 and that was my most important stuff, but they run all smooth.
how come device is much faster and responsive than before? i was on h3 rom b4.
o ye one thing bad, when turn phone on it shows half green broken pixels screen with half samsung screen, after few seconds that changes to normal omnia screen and all fine then, it got me worries when omnia woke up first after flashing and looked like it was stuck on that screen ,i closed my eyes at it until i heard samsung screen music
is this form fixable at all? cheers

Hey Maks, since Activesync has changed to Windows Mobile Device Center in Vista, can i use the latter to update? Haven’t tried just wanted to get your opinion based on what you’ve read in forums. And also, do I really need to download the Samsung Modem app as well or is that optional?
Maks Pain said,

it is recommended using XP instead of Vista..
and i think this Custom ROM also support XP only…

So how is it so far? no problems with this custom rom?
I just want to ask about the GPS fix that was posted previously, does it work for everyone?
It didn’t work for me or maybe I have to wait longer.

Hi,
I just got my Omnia 2 days ago – what a phone!
My PDA version is i900XXHHD/ACHH3
and Phone version is i900BUHH2
Should I upgrade to the version above (is it the latest out)?
And, will it work in the UK?
Also, I’m with Vodafone and have insurance with them. If i brick the phone trying this ROM, will my phone be covered by Vodafone?
Many thanks
Fraser

One more question, does anyone have problems with the receptions? Cause whenever my phone couldn’t detect network, it won’t automatically detect until I restart the phone.
Need some help on this.
Thanks.
[reply by Maks Pain]

Hi Bros, was doing my Modaco Custom Rom : DTHJ6-MCR02. After the updater locate my device, i press start. After pressing start, nothing happen. It only show waiting for reboot. 20mins after still the same so i cancel the operation. Now my phone is dead, can’t power up at all. USB unable to recongnise my device also. Now my device is waiting for operation in the service centre, haiz… What have happen, did i do the wrong step or download the wrong thing? Can someone guide me along, i would like to try again after i got my phone back… My previous is i900DXHH3/ DZHH3.

Fraser,
sometime it did happen to me also.
i suspect because of some apps disable the function..
try check Settngs > System > Motion Sensor
or soft reset …

Black Devil,
normally before start
turn off phone,
run the updater
turn on phone until it’s been detected
then start..
it should like that..
i would like to suggest to install official one HJ1 because it’s an official rom
or maybe u just wait for a while..
there is new ROM coming out which is DK1,
with a lot of improvements & bug fixed..

Thanks, Maks! I updated my Omnia successfully. Truth be told, I my heart skipped a beat when the screen went all black after the update–I didn’t breathe until it started up again. The phone’s working like a charm now! No lockups, speedy menu browsing, and an ultra-useful biz card reader. I love my phone again.
Patrick said,

Forgot to ask, do you know how I could get the Omnia to read/write in Chinese? It’s more important that I just be able to read Chinese than write it since this cooked ROM removed the Chinese font.

Installed this yesterday afternoon on my Omnia Phone and no problem so far. Battery life seems really last longer with this ROM.
